Hello Everyone and welcome to our 6BR blog for 2020.

We have had a wonderful start to the year. The students are to be commended for their enthusiasm and the way they have transitioned punctiliously to the changes and challenges that Year 6 brings.

Throughout 2020, the students will be posting on their personal blog sites, all of which can be accessed through this class blog page. Please visit and comment on your child’s blog posts when they let you know something has been posted.

Our first post is a reflection on our learning at the first Year 6, ‘Lead Yourself into The Future’ conference day.

In 2020, the Year 6 students from both Carey Junior School campuses will ‘Lead Themselves into the Future’ in a number of conferences throughout the year.

Prior to the conference students discussed in class what makes them a ‘well-being’ and identified and listed their strengths. They then applied this self -awareness when working through activities and challenges with their peers.

The students explicitly focused on the Positive Learner Attribute (PLA) of ‘Reflection’, students also engaged in a range of activities utilising the other PLAs, especially those within the Relationships domain (communication, collaborating and connection). 

Throughout the Conference the students were:

• challenged physically, mentally, and emotionally.
• encouraged to recognise the positive influence and effect they can have on themselves and others.
• Communicating with others and building connections with those around them.
• Encouraged to draw on their individual strengths.
